Studio Jay Recording presents: Ruth Osman
Amazing Guyanese Jazz/Fusion singer launches her Debut CD
Guyanese singer/songwriter, Ruth Osman, has just launched her debut album, “Letting Go’’, at the Little Carib Theatre in Trinidad on July 6th.
Osman describes the album, which was produced by Studio Jay Recording Ltd, as “the statement that I’ve wanted to make for a long time”. “It’s my take on love, spirituality, motherhood, and our society.”
The 10 song production is a departure from the jazz sound that Osman has become known for. “We haven’t veered away from that sound, “she explained. “We’ve expanded on it. So you’re going to hear some jazz. But there’s also soul, funk and folk, and of course, our Caribbean rhythms feature heavily ... I think you could safely categorise it as adult contemporary.”
According to Jason Dasent, Executive Producer at Studio Jay Recording, the album’s uniqueness is sure to make it stand out on the local and international market. “It crosses a number of genres,” he said, “and Ruth’s songwriting is so topical and lyrical at the same time. People are really going to like it.”
His excitement was echoed by Osman when she spoke about the process of recording the album with Dasent. “It’s an amazing thing to hear something that you’ve written come to life under someone else’s hand and to realise that it appeals to other people as well. I’m grateful to Jason for the opportunity to do this project.”
The well attended concerts marking the launch of the album featured the talents of Dasent and members of his band “Overdrive”, as well as musicians that Osman has worked with over the years.
We thank the her growing fan-base for the tremendous support!
